Manager Income Tax Audit Accounting and Compliance – 110-120k plus bonus

Job Description The Manager – Income Tax Audit, Accounting and Compliance will report to the Executive Director – Tax Accounting and Compliance and will have primarily responsibility for managing all domestic and international aspects of the Federal income tax audit under the IRS CAP program, assist in preparation/completion of the quarterly and annual income tax accounting in accordance with ASC740 and assist in review of the Federal/state income tax compliance.  The Manager will work closely with other members of the tax and accounting functions to ensure SOX compliance, accuracy of global tax accounts and related reporting, integration of tax planning initiatives with tax accounting and compliance processes and accuracy/timeliness of tax filings/payments.

Functions/Duties

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of the Federal Income tax audits under the IRS CAP program, including setting the strategy and working closely with IRS audit team, specialists and management;
  • Develop, coordinate and administer all responses to IRS inquiries to support the company’s tax position while ensuring that responses are accurate and timely so that audits can be completed within desired timeframe with the objective of receiving a “Full Acceptance Letter” prior to filing of Avon’s 1120, eliminating need for post-filing audit;
  • Assist with the efficient preparation/review of the consolidated provision for income taxes and balance sheet tax accounts under ASC740 as well as all required US GAAP and SEC disclosures supporting quarterly and annual financial statements;
  • Assist with the management, control, administration and improvement of the ASC740 provision process/system infrastructure;
  • Assist with the management, control and development of proper documentation and working papers for ASC740 uncertain tax positions;
  • Assist with the management and control of the preparation of global effective tax rate forecasts to support various financial accounting requirements including:  budgets, forecasts, quarterly reporting, etc.;
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual provision reviews/audits of the income tax accounting including liaising with financial statement auditors;
  • Assist with the administration of tax department compliance with requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act including coordination with internal and external auditors in regard to control testing;
  • Assist with the complex data analysis related to the calculation of APB23 liability associated with the remittance of foreign earnings .
  • Assist the tax management team in regard to effective tax rate and/or cash tax modeling in regard to domestic/global tax planning;
  • Assist in the efficient preparation/review of consolidated Federal tax return including preparation and/or review of separate company Federal returns;
  • Assist with other tax department special projects, tax research as well as legislative and current event monitoring related to taxes;
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge of Federal and state income tax laws and current developments; and
  • Lead and develop tax staff and help recruit a best in class tax department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum 5 – 8 years of tax provision and compliance experience which should include Big 4 public accounting firm & large multinational corporate tax department
  • PC knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA and/or Masters Degree in Taxation
  • Experience with tax compliance software such as Onesource, Vertex, etc. a plus
  • Ability to work with  tax software to create efficiencies so as to allow for a world class tax provision and compliance process
  • Big Four Tax Experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Federal and State provision and compliance requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skill
  • Ability to communicate well and develop relations inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to drive results and influence others
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Good business acumen, must be a strategic thinker that understand tax concerns but also addresses other department concerns
