Senior Vice President- Tax Litigation Support and Corporate Recovery – 200k plus

Reports to Managing Director &/or Senior Managing Director

Positions Supervised: Analyst, Senior Analyst, Associate, & Senior Associate


Gain valuable experience working closely with expert and consulting witnesses through all phases of litigation support engagements with an emphasis on tax issues. Other tasks include working with debtors and creditors on income tax issues facing large multi-national distressed corporations including those in bankruptcy proceedings.

This position also may require financial analyses related to troubled and bankrupt companies such as business plans, cash flow, solvency and financial modeling.


 Research and prepare detailed memoranda regarding complex tax issues, including but not limited to:

o Tax free reorganizations including split-ups, spin-offs and split-offs, both inside and outside of bankruptcy,

o Strategies for preserving net operating losses including but not limited to those under section 382(l)(5) and (6), and the impacts of claims trading on qualified creditors or equity trading on ownership changes in bankruptcy reorganizations,

o Cancellation of debt income, exclusions available for insolvency and bankruptcy and effect on tax attributes especially those in a consolidated group,

o Excess Loss Account calculations and planning for the mitigation or elimination on associated gain,

o Transactions between and among foreign subsidiaries including transfer pricing issues,

o Consolidated tax return regulations and tax sharing agreements, and

o Analyzing financial statements and tax returns for significant risks, effects of certain transactions and possible fraudulent conveyances related to income tax attribute transactions, and

o Analyzing current and deferred income tax accruals under ASC740 as well as FAS109 and FIN48.

 Conduct various document searches and factual research

o Cull relevant information from a variety of sources.

 Actively participate in marketing efforts

 Supervise and mentor staff, as required

 This position may require travel


 Minimum 6 – 10 years of tax experience, preferable with Big-4 or National CPA firm

 Excellent analytical, research, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

 Ability to work in a team oriented environment

 Ability to meet strict deadlines

 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

 Professionalism, dependability and integrity

 Motivated professional with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within tight time constraints

 Bachelor degree or higher, preferably in accounting

 CPA certification preferred

 Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
